Otis Ray (mandolin, vocal)Otis Ray is a man of many names. (A.k.a Arthor, Frank Drake, or as Harvy likes to call him: “Charty”). He spent his childhood in the south (well, south of here anyway: Long Island, NY). He was schooled along the mighty Hudson River where he played folk, Celtic, original acoustic music, and of course bluegrass - with a band called Middle Class Grass, back in 1979. Later, he drifted into other forms of music, playing stand-up bass in a jazz band, and guitar in a number of rock, jazz and avant guard ensembles. Stumbling onto the Bagboys seemed the perfect way for this prodigal picker to return to the music he started out with. There's nothing like coming home to the Bagboys. Otis maintains a grueling extracurricular musical schedule, with Old Paint String Band, The Frank Drake Band and others. |
